This amazing Degi chicken korma saalan recipe has been taught to me by my older sister who is herself is an amazing cook.
This dish is neither completely chicken salan or a complete korma salan but it’s a combinations of both the flavors “Deygii Chicken Korma Saalan” and it tastes amazing and delicious with hot Naan or rice.
INGREDIENTS
- One big whole chicken cut into pieces
- Fried Onion paste 3 tbs
- Crushed tomatoes (canned) 6 tbs
- Ginger paste 1 tbs
- Garlic paste 1 tbs
- Anais flower (whole) 2
- Black Elaichi (whole) 1
- Cinnamon stick (whole) 1
- Shan Korma Masala 3tbs
- Salt (2 tsp – adjust to taste)
- Red chilli powder (1 tsp – adjust to taste)
- Turmeric powder (1 tsp – adjust as needed)
- Coriander powder 1 tbs
- Dried whole red pepper 6
- Garam Masala powder (1 tsp – adjust to taste)
- Oil (1/2 cup – as needed)
- Water 3 big glasses
RECIPE
- Heat the oil
- Put ginger and garlic paste
- Add the chicken and all the dry powdered and whole spices including korma masala and cook the chicken for about 5 to 7 minutes on high heat
- Add the onion paste and crushed tomatoes and cook the chicken with it for about 10-12 minutes and keep stirring on medium heat
- When the oil starts separating and chicken starts getting stick to the bottom add water, put the lid on and let the chicken cook on medium heat.
- When the chicken is cooked and there is some gravy left turn off the stove and enjoy the “Deygi Chicken Korma saalan with naan or rice
- for onions paste you can golden brown the onions and blend them with little oil into a paste
- If you don’t have crushed tomato can you can use tomato paste or 5 fresh tomatoes blended into a paste
